Due to the number of derailments, many of which have been caused by axle
breakages on overloaded rail wagons, Spoornet are monitoring their policy on
OVERMASS rail containers more closely.

With immediate effect all containers with a gross weight exceeding 21000 kgs
/20ft and 26000 kgs /40ft will be billed the double rail-age amount than what
is normally applicable.

A lot of containers will be weighed to verify the weights.

Should the declared weight be found not correct in R.S.A. you will be held
liable for the extra charges in rail-age which will be faced.

For all the offices that are loading their own boxes into Johannesburg,
please make sure that the weights declared on the ocean b/l are correct and
that you do not exceed the mass weights.

So please make sure that the correct gross weights of the shipment at the latest on the closing date, any changes after that resulting into the container exceeding the allowed maximum weight will result into you paying the extra rail-age charges for the whole container.**

hub to transship your cargo to Johannesburg, we seek your co-operation to
provide the CORRECT gross weight to us in order to avoid any extra cost at
